                                                                                    WHO ARE WE?

 

                                                        Divine Mercy Monastery was formed as the new non-profit Religious Corporation in June 1997 when Carmel of St. Joseph had to abandon the unfinished building, having lost Arbitration. Unknown to the Nuns, when the plans were originally found to be structurally defective and a new Engineer was hired, rather than wait for the revisions Diani Co. built the whole structure on change orders.  The Architect responsible for defective plans was let go and his Engineer with him.  The County forbid Diani Co. to go forward until they were given the name of the responsible Architect,  or Engineer.  Diani Co. gave the name of the outgoing Engineer and continued Construction.  Everything that Diani Co.  constructed during this month, was termed a "structural Pandora Box" by the new Structural Engineer.
 

Again, unknown to the Nuns, Diani Co. did not wait for the new Engineer's plans, but continued to use the known defective and forbidden plans having the new Engineer follow him with structural band-aids, telling him: 'the Nuns do not want to stop'.  The Nuns retrofitted all the County required, but to build the whole  building on retrofit was something they never gave permission for.  And Diani Co. continued retrofit even after the Nuns ran out of money, being warned the whole building could collapse.  And then sued them for his retrofit.

Most of the Nuns transferred to other Carmelite Communities but a few petitioned Rome in their desire to ultimately found a house of Divine Mercy when God should clear the way.  The Corporation’s name was changed to DIVINE MERCY INC., and its present membership consists of Religious and Christian lay persons dedicated to serving the Lord with all their heart and of kindling this fire of love in the hearts of all mankind. 

 

Contemplative prayer is its foundation stone, filial intimacy with God.  To “walk with God” is Scripture’s description of this filial friendship to which God invites each of us.  In our joys and sorrows; in health and in pain, in success and in failure, Christ yearns to be our intimate Companion, our loving Bridegroom and ever-abiding, faithful Friend - our “Abba” (Father).

Divine Mercy, Inc. is become a growing nucleus with spiritual roots in the Gospel and Carmelite spirituality.  We can only give to others what we ourselves possess. Christ yearns that His love “be kindled” and EVERYONE should experience the love and mercy of God:  “If anyone loves Me…he will be loved by my Father and We will come to him and make Our Dwelling within him (John 14:23);  “I am come to cast fire on the earth and I yearn that this fire be kindled” igniting the whole world.

THE WHOLE WORLD WAS CHANGED BY TWELVE UNLIKELY LEADERS --  FISHERMEN.   YOU/WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD TODAY. Deck12_1Text Box: THE STATUE, A FULFILMENT OF A VOW:  We promise that Our Lord, that if He would bring all things to fulfillment upon our land, we would build a large statue of Jesus. Trusting in God’s faithfulness, we set about to make our promise a reality.  Through a friend, who heard of our Promise, the MUTH FOUNDATION gave this beautiful statue.  Outdoor Stations of the Cross have been erected, making this the 15th Station, the Resurrection.  The fountain is a gift from OASIS FOUNTAINS in Malibu (Hwy ! & Tapanga)

            GOD HAS BEEN MOST GOOD:  The new Manufactured Home          
                   is the gift of several benefactors.  We wish to thank all who have
                   been so generous, including especially Alex Madonna (RIP) and
                   John Bowler (RIP). These pictures show our present progress.                          
                   The land was barren land but we are endeavoring to plant olive,
                   fruit and shade trees.  Members of the Vandenberg AFB have
                   helped us tremendously to turn the desert into an oasis. Many have
                   been given trees and monetary help in memory of loved ones: 
                   May God write these names eternally in His heart...and ours
